Vehicle flips on Youngstown’s south side

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A man driving on the south side of Youngstown Thursday morning hit a utility pole and turned his car over on its side.

Police responded to a call of an overturned vehicle at 238 Wilbur Ave. around 9:45 a.m. The 18-year-old driver said his power steering failed, causing the accident.

The man was not injured in the crash. Youngstown Police responded to the scene, near the intersection of Wilbur Ave. and Gibson St.

Steven Souza And Nathan Karns Help Rays Beat Twins 4-2

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) — Steven Souza hit his second home run and Nathan Karns took another step toward a spot in Tampa Bay’s starting rotation, helping the Rays beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Thursday.

Souza, an outfielder acquired from Washington during the offseason, hit a two-run drive in the fourth off Ricky Nolasco, who gave up three runs and four hits in 3 2-3 innings.

Karns allowed two runs and six hits in 4 1-3 innings in his fourth spring training start. He struck out four and walked one.

Eric Fryer drove in Minnesota’s runs with a double off Karns in the second.

Campbell man, charged with child rape, turns self in

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Campbell man, indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on a charge of child rape last week, turned himself in to police Thursday morning.

Paris Wright turned himself in to the United States Marshals Services Thursday morning. Prosecutors said that Wright raped a 12-year-old.

County jail officials are currently holding Wright, who could face life in prison if he is convicted.
