What to expect your first few weeks on the job

Fake it till you make it

Congrats you got the job! Now what? Well it can be different in every office but my experience was different then my expectations going in.

I thought going in there would be an orientation and then training period where I would learn the systems and different technology we would be using. Boy was I wrong, the first time we were “training” it was just an assistant account executive running through different order sheets and revisions quickly and highlighting certain steps.

There was no orientation period where you could meet and get to know other people that were also hired in the same time period. The “training period” was pretty non existent and I was thrown into the fire quickly without being fully trained and up to date on the systems, I felt that this set me back a few weeks and I could not really be comfortable operating and doing…

Could Apple Watch apps be a home run for MN companies?

BringMeTheNews.com

We’re still more than a week away from the release of the Apple Watch.

But in an effort to stay ahead of the technological curve, some businesses are already getting their own software for the wearable gadget ready.

The Pioneer Press reports Minnesota companies as big as Target, Mayo Clinic and General Mills – and even lesser-known businesses such as Starkey Hearing Technologies and Space150 – are developing apps for the yet-to-be-released Apple Watch.

What those companies are hoping is that Apple Watch apps explode the same way iPhone and iPad apps did.

In 2014, the App Store generated $10 billion in revenue for app developers, Forbes reported, on 1.4 million available apps.

We may not know how to go about the process of achieving our life goals – we might overwhelm ourselves (which is easy to do), and indefinitely put those dreams on the backburner for the rest of our lives, waiting for ‘one day’ to come, but all too often that…

questmediasa

rAU1DgZyG7i73ddPA4EoAvxza7XzLm0quxygOJLhf1As the streaming war between TIDAL and Spotify is in its genesis, the latter proves it didn’t lose its positions. The Wall Street Journal reports that the platform is to close a $400 million deal in funding. Investors include powerful companies such as Goldman Sachs – one of the oldest investment banks in the world. Once the papers get signed, Spotify would be estimated at $8.4 billion.

This number is $2.66 billion higher than the streaming giant’s previous $5.74 billion valuation reported in January this year. It is also $1.5 billion more than the revenue of the entire recording industry in the US in 2014. These statistics make Spotify one of the richest tech startups in the recent years.

Bottomline: if Jay Z and his new artist-powered platform TIDAL want to compete with Spotify, it will take more than taking off a few albums and random songs, a couple of exclusive…
