Both The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly report ABC and John Ridley are scheduled to team up on an upcoming reboot of a currently unnamed Marvel Comics superhero. Ridley is best known for the Academy Award-winning 2013 film 12 Years A Slave, as well as the ABC drama “American Crime,” and the films Redtails and Jimi: All Is By My Side.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel project will focus on the brand’s existing superheroes, and it would fall under an existing overall deal Ridley has with ABC. The proposed Ridley show would also bring a second Marvel property to ABC, since the network is currently running “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ Has Gone Gold

Despite what his label’s founder, CEO, and executive producer chalked up to a botched release, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly is now a gold album. In roughly a month since surprisingly being available on iTunes at 12:00 am on March 15, Billboard and Nielsen SoundScan report the album has sold 513,000 copies, which push it past the required sales amount for the distinction of being a gold album.

“That makes it the seventh album to sell a half-million copies in 2015, and gives the music industry the fastest accumulation of half-million sellers since 2010,” reports Billboard’s Keith Caulfield.

Actor and comedienne Mo’Nique Imes-Jackson made headlines in February when various outlets reported she had been blackballed from Hollywood after a perceived rift with Precious director and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels. One revelation to come from their respective interviews was Mo’Nique taking what seemed to be a low salary of $50,000 for a part that eventually won her an Academy Award.
