#AceNewsReport – Post Report #BREAKINGKOBANI June.27: Kurdish #YPG forces expelled Islamic State fighters (IS, formerly ISISISIL) from the Syrian border town of Kobani on Saturday and they have now regained full control of the town, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said, according to Reuters.
Clashes are still rumbling on to the south of the town, the Observatory’s founder Rami Abdulrahman said, adding that since Thursday, with the launch of the raid in the area, IS has killed around 200 people.
An explosion sent plumes of smoke rising over central Kobani on Saturday morning, witnesses told Reuters. The cause of the blast was not immediately clear. On Thursday, Islamic State militants attacked the strategic town on Syria’s border with Turkey.
