#AceNewsReport – RUSSIA:July.09: Russia vetoed a UN Security council resolution condemning the Srebrenica massacre as genocide committed by the Serbian army, the Russian UN envoy said in a statement on Wednesday.

Vitaly Churkin said it was “not constructive, confrontational and politically motivated.” China, Nigeria, Angola and Venezuela abstained from the vote, while the other 10 states voted in favor.

The resolution, pushed by the UK, proposed condemning as genocide the Srebrenica massacre, in which thousands of Muslims were killed during the Bosnian War in July 1995.

In June, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the resolution is anti-Serbian in general and incorrectly interpreted the events even from a legal perspective.
