(1090 The Fan) — The Seattle Mariners are inviting centenarian Evelyn Jones to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, proving you’re never too old to participate in America’s favorite pastime.
Jones celebrates her 108th birthday on June 11th.
Born in 1907, Jones is a native of Washington state and a long-time fan of the Seattle Mariners. She and her husband of 55 years, Stanley, have raised two daughters.
According to the team’s website, Jones tunes into every Mariners game:
“Dressed in her Mariners gear, Evelyn retreats to her room to watch the broadcast by herself so the other residents don’t interrupt her while she concentrates on the game” reads the description.
The team adds that Jones credits her longevity to healthy eating and “drinking alcohol only at Saturday dances.”
