When Catholics say they believe in ‘One, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church’ they refer to scripture and a church sanctified by Jesus Christ and was given to Peter. Saint Peter was, in effect the first Pope. After him came Saint Linus, Saint Anacletus, Saint Clement and so on until nearly two thousand years later, Pope Francis.
