Giving last honors to McNick’s top of the class

The McNicholas Milestone

On Thursday May 21, McNicholas High School will celebrate its 143 graduates of the Class of 2015 at Taft Theatre.  As tradition dictates, the valedictorian and salutatorian will address the class and those in attendance. The two students earning these honors by having the top two grade point averages in the class are Michelle Hollenkamp, valedictorian, and Brandon Walsh, salutatorian.

Hollenkamp, who will be attending University of Colorado Boulder to study biology, said her graduation speech is based on Harry Potter, and she often quotes Dumbledore.  “What I want people to take away from my speech is that they should always just do what makes them happy,” Hollenkamp said.

Walsh will be attending Maryville University in St. Louis, Illinois, and he will be studying actuarial science.  He said he is going to miss the faculty the most, and his best memories took place in Mr. Spurlock’s classroom.
