One new article link has been added to our Related News page. WSFA published an article titled Montgomery Police investigating department’s first human trafficking case.
A human trafficking suspect was arrested and two victims were recovered in Montgomery Monday night, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Theon Dontray Smith, 27, of South Carolina, was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree human trafficking.
It is the first human trafficking case that the Montgomery Police Department has investigated since the state law was passed in 2010.
MPD Chief of Staff, Bryan Jurkofsky says the department received a call from out-of-state parents, which is what triggered the investigation.
“They received contact from their daughter, who said she was in Montgomery and asked for a welfare check,” Jurkofsky said. “Patrol units responded and identified two minor females and one adult male.”

A white Range Rover left the road and crashed into the Old Dairy Cafe on the corner of Warren Street and Conway Street after the driver turned off the Euston Road late on Thursday night.
Police are at the scene this evening and have partly cordoned off the street. Fitzrovia News understands no-one was hurt and no other vehicle was involved.
The Evans Dairy building is a Grade II listed building which may have been damaged. The shop is one of the best surviving examples of a Welsh dairy, common in London in early C20 but now extremely rare. The tilework in this example is particularly attractive.
A Cold Reception for HOT PURSUIT
If anyone could have saved HOT PURSUIT, it would have been Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara. Aside from having scads of talent and audience appeal, they both have a keen understanding of their strengths as performers, yet they never quite cross the line into becoming caricatures of themselves. Here, the co-stars and co-producers have found for themselves roles that are tailor-made for them, but dropped them into a script that is thin, weak, and all over the place.
Witherspoon is Cooper, a tightly wound, over-eager, fanatically committed police officer relegated to a desk job when her zealousness caused a snafu that has become the stuff of urban legend. Far from carrying on the proud tradition of her cop father, she has tarnished the Cooper name, rendering it a verb meaning doing something really, really dumb. Say, like making a movie this bad.
But I digress.
Her redemption is at hand…

Concerns of Police Mistreatment In West Ambae
THIS WEEK A member of the Bulubulu Council of Chiefs of West Ambae, approached Transparency International Vanuatu (TIV) with details of a concerning incident that happened last week on Wednesday, on the western part of the island of Ambae.
The concerned individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, said early last month that the police officer who resides in their area arrested a traditional doctor without a warrant, he beat him up and locked him in jail overnight.
He said since the beginning of this year this law enforcement officer has been mistreating people in their district without following the proper procedures.
Apparently, accusations were instigated by a group who accused the victim to have tricked young girls into removing their clothes so he can spit traditional leaves on them to cure them of their illnesses.
When the officer heard the rumors he went and arrested and beat the victim without…

The Role Model I Hate
I have always thought my life to be one of the most complicated one which makes me wonder if ones destiny is a chance or a choice? I also don’t know if one chooses their role model or is drawn towards them due to similarities. My boss and I click which I myself find it very weird. This guy is the most unfriendly, paranoid, narcissistic and selfish male species you will ever come across.
There are so many things I disagree with him yet I feel like I mould myself to be like him. I don’t agree with his authoritative way of leadership. I hate his micromanaging style and when I say micromanaging I mean you can not e-mail without his approval (when was this last down? 1900?). He also assumes or expects all his staff not to have another life other than his company.
20 years in the corporate…
